Welcome to The Pour House Bartending Academy ("the Academy," "we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your enrollment in and use of our bartending and mixology classes, events, and related services. By enrolling in a class or using our website, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully.
1. Enrollment & Eligibility
Enrollment is confirmed once we receive your deposit (or full payment, where no deposit applies) and you receive a confirmation from us. Seats are limited and reserved on a first-come basis.
- You must be 18 years or older to enroll in any class that handles alcohol, including Core Bartending, Craft Mixology, Flair Bartending, Private Lessons, and Corporate events.
- Completing a class does not by itself authorize you to serve alcohol. Most jurisdictions, including California, require servers to be 21 or older to pour or serve alcohol on the job.
- Our Kids' Mocktail Class is for ages 8–15 and is entirely alcohol-free. A parent or legal guardian must register the child, sign all required forms, and may be asked to remain on-site.
- You agree to provide accurate enrollment information and to notify us of any allergies, medical conditions, or accessibility needs in advance so we can accommodate you safely.
2. Payment, Deposits & Refunds
Class fees, deposits, and unit pricing are shown at the time of enrollment. Payments are processed securely by our third-party payment provider, Stripe; we do not store your full card number. Our deposit, refund, and cancellation rules are described in full in our Refund & Cancellation Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
3. Class Conduct & Safety
Our classes involve glassware, tools, slippery surfaces, and — in some courses — open flame. Your safety and the safety of others is our top priority, and we expect students to:
- Arrive on time, sober, and ready to participate. We may remove, without refund, any student who is intoxicated or impaired in a class that handles alcohol.
- Follow all instructor directions and posted safety rules at all times.
- Wear closed-toe shoes and appropriate attire.
- Treat instructors, staff, and fellow students with respect. Harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behavior may result in removal without refund.
- Use only the equipment and practice liquids provided, and only as instructed.
4. Responsible Alcohol Service
Where a class includes tasting of alcoholic beverages, consumption is limited to small instructional amounts and is at the instructor's discretion. We teach and expect responsible service practices: checking identification, recognizing signs of intoxication, refusing service when appropriate, and never serving minors. We may prepare you for industry certifications such as TIPS® or ServSafe Alcohol®; passing any certification exam is administered by the certifying body and is not guaranteed by us.
5. Job-Placement Assistance — No Guarantee of Employment
We offer resume help, interview preparation, and referrals to venues as a complimentary benefit to graduates. These services are assistance only. We do not guarantee employment, a particular wage, tips, or any specific job outcome. Hiring decisions rest entirely with prospective employers.
6. Assumption of Risk & Liability (Flair & Practice)
Flair bartending and hands-on practice carry an inherent risk of injury, including from flying bottles, tins, broken glass, slips, or burns during optional fire-flair drills. By enrolling, you voluntarily assume these risks and agree to follow all safety instructions. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release the Academy and its instructors from liability for injury, loss, or damage arising from your participation, except where caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct. You may be asked to sign a separate waiver before certain activities.
7. Intellectual Property
All course materials — including recipe manuals, workbooks, videos, handouts, and the content of this website — are the property of the Academy and are provided for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, distribute, resell, or publicly share these materials, or record classes, without our prior written consent.
8. Photography & Media
Classes and events may be photographed or filmed for promotional purposes. Where required, we will ask for your consent. If you prefer not to appear in media, let your instructor know before class begins.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will apply to enrollments made after the changes are posted; continued use of our services after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your enrollment shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California.
